Choose checks for the actual product and use. Ceramics may need body, glaze and packing review; textiles need an agreed fibre, construction and label specification; woven goods need material, condition, packing and destination-requirement checks.
Six steps, from listing to delivery
How a listing becomes a shipment.
Send the piece
A 1688 link, a photograph or a description, with quantity and destination. Say what it is for: decoration, serving food and storage each need different checks.
Confirm the specification
Request written material, finish, dimension, weight and pack details from the seller. Photographs cannot establish every property; agree physical samples or tests where the decision depends on them.
Check the minimum
Ask whether the minimum applies per design, colour, material or package, and whether variants can be combined. Compare the quantities you need with the actual carton and price breaks before committing.
Review the quote
Review the itemised scope, packed dimensions and gross weight. Confirm the service’s billing rules and identify included, excluded and unresolved destination fees and taxes; an estimate is not a final invoice.
Approve, then we buy
A sourcing enquiry is not an order approval. Agree the specification, payment terms, planned checks, packing and dated milestones before authorising a purchase. Clarify how changes and unresolved issues affect release.
Review and release
Agree sample selection, inspection records and acceptance criteria. Review any proposed repacking or consolidation for protection, cost, readiness and carrier acceptance before shipment; these steps do not guarantee savings or damage-free delivery.
What to send
Details for a useful homeware quotation.
Similar listing photographs can hide different specifications and packing costs. Provide these details and identify anything still unknown.
- The 1688 link, or a photograph of the piece with its approximate size.
- What it is made of and what it will be used for: decoration, serving food or storage.
- For ceramics, the glaze and finish you want, and a physical reference if you have one.
- For textiles, the fibre composition, the weight in GSM and the finished dimensions.
- The quantity per design and colour, and whether you would take a mixed assortment.
- Your destination, because labelling and food-contact requirements depend on the market.
- Whether the retail box is required for sale or presentation. Compare any alternative only if protection, saleability and destination labour remain acceptable.
